Florida Security Officer Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for a license, you must:

Be at least 18 years old.

Be a citizen or legal resident alien of the United States or Be a Permanent Legal Resident granted authority to work in this country by the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. *

You must be of good moral character (which means you must not be a criminal, druggie or drunk)

Class sizes are intentionally small, giving each student the chance to practice, ask questions, and really master the essential skills they’ll need on the job.

Kelly Flanagan, founder and Chief Instructor, spent 20 years in the Air Force, including numerous overseas deployments and assignments, before turning his experience into a program that trains others for real security work. He’s spent nearly three decades teaching students and keeps lessons centered on what matters most on the job: awareness, judgment, and the confidence to act when everyone else freezes. From firearms training to licensing courses, everything is built for the real world, not a checklist. Students walk away with skills they can actually use, not just a certificate to hang on the wall. That practical, hands-on approach is why PSG Security Academy earned the 2024 & 2025 Best of Florida Award. Instructors bring decades of experience without ego, and the classroom feels more like a team than a lecture hall. PSG isn’t about credentials or buzzwords. It’s about readiness and making sure students are truly prepared for whatever comes their way. PSG Security Academy provides students the highest caliber of security training.
Our classes are held in a clean & spacious facility in Zephyrhills Florida.
Most schools don't show their facilities on their websites... why do you think that is?
We only offer hands-on training in a comfortable classroom setting.
If you're one of those people who prefer Online Classes, we don't offer that.
If you want to learn in a classroom, interact with the instructor and ask questions,
then PSG Security Academy is your school and we want you in our classroom.

PSG Academy is conveniently located just 20 minutes north of Tampa in the Zephyrhills / Wesley Chapel suburbs.
You may have to drive a little further than some of those other schools in Tampa but check out their reviews on Google Maps

Students must Pre-register & Pre-pay on our website the Friday prior to class.
